As deliberations on the new UNFCCC climate finance goal enter the second week at COP29 in Baku, IMAL director Iskander Erzini Vernoit has co-authored a timely new article on quantifying climate finance provision needs of developing countries, published today as a comment piece in the peer-reviewed Nature journal npj Climate Action.
The article breaks new ground in suggesting estimates for grant-equivalent climate finance provision needs of developing countries. It moreover reviews a range of existing literature and provides a critique of inadequacies or problems in various prior analyses.
